Geils Band was written by Leo Hutton and Andre Williams US1 and was first released by Bull & The Matadors in 1968. You get a simple, yet perfect guitar lick at the start of the song, and from there it slowly builds and by midway through the entire band is cooking. The song has always sounded like a soul classic, and at this point, it is! I dig the studio version, but it's the live version that captures the desperate nature of the song, and is probably the better known version that you hear the most on the radio, especially here in the Boston area.
